How to Make your family nights Epic!

Family night is important because it brings your family together. It’s a chance to create epic memories and a chance to have fun and break the routine of a normal weekday. And just in case you want to take things to the next level, we’ve gathered a few top tips to make family nights a blast!

  1. Have an Epic Game -

Choose a fun game for your family to play. This can vary depending on the age of your kids, but choose a game that involves competition. Why competition, you ask? Because competing puts something on the line! It takes things from being normal, to being epic. Competition also can encourage strategy, team building, participation and sportsmanship skills that are fantastic to have.

  2. Set up a tournament -

Take the game aspect and move it up a notch with a tourney style competition. Have everyone in your family play against everyone. Or have a team aspect, where each player rotates partners to ensure fairness. Have a bracket on the wall to show progress,  Especially if your kids are older, it’s always a good idea to bring in more challenging games or new games so that everyone can start with a blank slate. May we suggest Jungle Speed? You can also make it best out of 7 like the NBA playoffs.

  3. Make it special -

Part of game night is to bring everyone together. What makes people come together better than food? So, it’s a good idea to make the game night also snack night! Maybe as you get ready for the night you give everyone their favorite candy or sweet? Or maybe this is also an opportunity to go out to everyone’s favorite spot, like a burger joint or an ice cream parlor. What if the winner of the game gets an extra scoop? Or instead of a cone they get the whole banana split? Imagine your family looking forward to your family nights because they know that it’s going to be something special!

  4. Put something on the line! -

Last but not least, take the time to let your family know that there is something to strive for. Set the expectation that the winner of the game will be richly rewarded! That way everyone will be fully engaged for weeks on end. There are many ways to go about this. An example is having a board with a reminder of who the last week’s winner was. You could make a trophy at home and make that the totem that everyone is reaching for. And if you really want to take things to the pinnacle of epic-ness, you could also celebrate the epic winners with an Epic Foundries Trophy!

Family night doesn’t have to happen every week, but when you do go for it, make it a night that everyone loves. Remember, the most important thing is to create an atmosphere of warmth, inclusion, and enjoyment for everyone. Think of ways that your family will enjoy these ideas best, and you'll be on your way to making your family gatherings epic!
